Welcome to the Department of Special Services
The Department of Special Services provides high services to students with special needs between the ages of three and twenty-one. Students with disabilities who are in need of special education and related services, regardless of the severity of their disabilities, are identified and evaluated according to N.J.A.C. 6A:14, Special Education . The department is dedicated to providing an education which connects and communicates in such a way that all children with special needs are served appropriately within the context of least restrictive environment (LRE). There are a variety of services available, including, but not limited to child study team consultation, evaluation, and case management,
The Child Study Team (CST) services are conducted by team members including school psychologists, learning disabilities teacher consultants, school social workers, and speech language pathologists.
The continuum of special education and related services spans a variety of placements including in-class support programs, pull out resource replacement, and self-contained classes. Our focus is to educated students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment while utilizing differentiation strategies and scaffolding instruction to best support all learners.
Our related services offer support and remedial services through supplemental instruction. Related services include speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and counseling - all delivered by certified therapists in their respective disciplines.
The Special Services Department emphasizes compliance with all Federal and State mandates, direct parent and staff educational opportunities in special education; identification of preschool children with special needs, and provision of inclusive preschool experiences for then; transition planning services, and improved flow and accessibility of information to parents.
