
Ms. Yanelis Cabaleiro
Supervisor of Early Childhood Education
As the Supervisor of Early Childhood Education, Mrs. Yanelis Cabaleiro is committed to leading the Belleville Beginners PreK Program in providing a high-quality education within the Belleville Public School District. Mrs. Cabaleiro drives the implementation of an evidence-based curriculum model, The Creative Curriculum, assuring that the program meets the NJ Preschool Guidelines and Standards.
Yanelis is a lead committee member in the New Jersey Preschool Inclusion Project (NJPIP) aiming to support inclusive education practices in schools. She takes pride in supporting educators in using research-based best practices to create an inclusive learning environment that strives to meet the needs of all diverse learners and celebrates the unique strengths of each student! Her expertise and knowledge in the field supports teaching and learning. Yanelis assures that professional development is targeted, systematic, and comprehensive for all early childhood staff members through her collaboration with other administrators, instructional coaches, as well as other educational resources outside and relationships she has developed outside of the district.
Mrs. Cabaleiro has led the program in its participation with Grow NJ Kids, a rating and improvement system designed to raise the quality of child care and early learning across the state. In the Fall of 2023, Belleville Beginners completed the process and was rated a “High-Quality Preschool Education”. She has also assisted in outreach, recruitment, and enrollment throughout Belleville's Preschool Expansion, helping it grow from 6 to a total of 43 PreK classrooms for the 2023-2024 school year! Furthermore, Yanelis has developed relationships within the community while contracting with private providers including Head Start and Sandy Lane Nursery School and has participated in various family and community engagement endeavors including helping to grow the Early Childhood Advisory Committee (ECAC) and hosting Parent University monthly family workshops.
Before becoming an administrator, Mrs. Cabaleiro taught in an Integrated PreK classroom, a Preschool Disabled setting, and served as a District Instructional Coach and Preschool Master Teacher. She also worked for the NJ Early Intervention System. Mrs. Cabaleiro was honored to be recognized as Belleville School #3’s Teacher of the Year, 19-20 Essex County Teacher of the Year, and NJ State Teacher of the Year finalist.
Mrs. Cabaleiro earned a B.S.E. in Integrated Early Childhood, Elementary, & Special Education from Seton Hall University in 2009. She went on to earn a Masters degree in Education with a concentration in Family & Community Involvement and completed a School Supervisor Certification Program. In addition, she has a B.A. in Social & Behavioral Sciences and a minor in Psychology. She is currently completing her second Masters Degree in Administration & Leaderships and obtaining her Principal Certification anticipated in August of 2024.
