Principal of School # 10

Ms. Maria Calhoun, Ed.S., is proud to serve as a Principal at School 10.  Ms. Calhoun began her career in 2007 as a middle school English and Language Arts teacher (ELA). In 2009, Ms. Calhoun joined the Belleville team of dedicated educators teaching English Language Arts across several different grade levels. Ms. Calhoun also teaches First-Year-Writing as an adjunct professor at Montclair State University. 

Ms. Calhoun earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University in Secondary Education, English, and Communications in 2007. In 2011, she earned her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Scranton. In 2019, Ms. Calhoun completed an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership. She also completed training from Harvard Graduate School of Education in Educational Leadership and is currently working on her Doctorate of Educational Leadership (Ed.D) from the University of the Cumberlands. 

Ms. Calhoun loves being an educator because there’s nothing better than watching students achieve their goals and become successful, established adults. She truly believes that all students can realize their goals with guidance and unwavering support from their parents and teachers. Children succeed when schools and parents communicate and function as a family unit. During Ms. Calhoun’s career, Belleville Schools District has progressed exponentially to become a technologically advanced district that works with families to help students realize their full potential. Ms. Calhoun is excited to work with the Belleville team of administrators and educators in continuing to help our students become 21st-century leaders.
