
Ms. Heather MacIntyre
Supervisory of Elementary Education
Ms. Heather MacIntyre is excited to serve as the Supervisor of Elementary Education. Her educational career started in Belleville in 2007 as a first-grade teacher at School 4! Over 15 years in the classroom, she taught third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade. She also served as an instructional coach in the Belleville School District.
Ms. MacIntyre worked closely with Grade 3 teachers to help support a targeted group of students who missed foundational literacy skills. She collaborated with district administrators, principals, and teachers to support phonics instruction in the classroom. Furthermore, she has led various articulation meetings and professional development sessions on phonics and the importance of explicit instruction.
Ms. MacIntyre attended Kutztown University and earned a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She went on to receive her Master's in Reading from Montclair State University, her reading specialist certificate, and her Supervisory certificate. In addition to obtaining her master's, she completed the Student Assistance Coordinator Program at Montclair State. Most recently, she received her Orton Gillingham Certified Teacher Certificate through a Belleville cohort out of Fairleigh Dickinson University. Currently, Ms. MacIntyre is enrolled in Montclair State University’s Educational Leadership program.
Ms. MacIntyre believes that all students can learn to read. She also knows that explicit phonics instruction, interventions, and instructional strategies are essential in education. Ms. MacIntyre values small-group instruction that focuses on students’ needs.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, going to the beach, and playing with her niece.
