Ms. Diana Kucko
Supervisor of Response to Intervention & Title 1 Services
Ms. Diana Kucko is excited to continue to serve as the Supervisor Response to Intervention (RtI) for the 2023-2024 school year. Her educational career started in Belleville in September 2010. Previously, Ms. Kucko taught first grade and sixth grade English Language Arts. She also served as an instructional coach and RtI Coordinator.
Ms. Kucko developed a strategic plan to transition the district from I&RS to RtI. Since RtI is a data driven process, Ms. Kucko sorted and analyzed district wide data in order to identify students who are in need of academic interventions. She collaborated with district administrators, principals and teachers in order to create Belleville’s three tiers of support. Furthermore, she has led various articulation meetings and professional development sessions on RtI and has shown others how to utilize data from Renaissance, Belleville’s universal screener, to make informed decisions.
This year, Ms. Kucko was selected to be part of a panel at Literacy Chat: Accelerating Foundational Literacy in an MTSS Framework. During this panel discussion, Ms. Kucko and her colleagues shared their RtI journey with other administrators from various New Jersey school districts.
Ms. Kucko and her colleagues were selected to present at NJPSA’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Summit in 2022 and 2023. Belleville Public Schools was recognized by the Rutgers Center for Effective School Practices (CESP) as an exemplar district. At the MTSS Summit, Ms. Kucko discussed Belleville’s journey with RtI implementation as well as the three tiers of academic support. Ms. Kucko also provided insight and advice to fellow New Jersey administrators that are looking to implement RtI in their districts.
Ms. Kucko attended The Richard Stockton College of NJ and earned two bachelor degrees in Psychology and Education. She went on to receive her Masters in Reading from William Paterson University (WPUNJ), her reading specialist certificate and Supervisory certificate. Recently, Ms. Kucko obtained her Masters in Educational Leadership as well.
Ms. Kucko believes that all students can learn. She also knows that research-based interventions and instructional strategies are essential in education. Ms. Kucko values data driven decisions, differentiated instruction and small group instruction.
Currently, Ms. Kucko resides in Westwood with her son. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, going to the beach, and playing with her son.
